THE HORSES

Ash is a 15.3 light chestnut 11 year old gelding.  Ash is a "Henson" horse (see www.henson.fr) born in France.  He was named 'H' in France but of course the French pronounce 'H' - Ash so when he arrived in England he became Ash!  His registered name is "asHes to Dust" too!

Ash is one of only 4 Henson horses in England.  In France he won two Championships: four-in-hand carriage driving and the French Ladies Horseball Championship.  Just to prove that you can teach an old dog new tricks, he took up polocrosse just recently and in May 2007 he was leant to the French Junior Team who played at Kent Target Polocrosse Club's Tournament - with a young boy of 12!

Since arriving in England 3 years ago he has led a packed life and turned his hoof to all manner of activities: Pony Club rallies and an Easter Egg Hunt, a little bit of show jumping, barrel racing, Le Trec, as well as Horseball and Polocrosse.  His real claim to fame, however, was in May 2006 when he was one of the four-in-hand team of horses who gave VIP Guest of Honour, Sophie, the Countess of Wessex a carriage drawn tour of Bedgebury Forest! He is a good natured horse who loves attention.  Although steady to ride or drive he is forward thinking and always cheerful.

Boo is a 14.2 hh 13 year old chestnut gelding.  He is part Hanoverian by a stallion by the name of Maple Drambuie.  If you are into your shrubs and bushes you will understand why he was named Acer Boo!  We bought him in 7 years ago for Clara, then aged 12.

Once Clara had almost outgrown him and decided to move onto horses we sold him to a young girl but had to buy him back 6 weeks later because he didn't settle in his new home.  Since then we have tried to loan him out to people but he keeps coming back, so after 5 homes in 2 years we have accepted that he is a permanent member of the family!

Career wise Boo's most favourite activity is eventing, the 3-phase competition of dressage, show jumping and cross country.  During his career with Clara he won literally hundreds of rosettes and was almost always placed eventing. Although only pony sized he is, we think, a horse in a small body.  He needs a confident and sensitive rider because he has a tendency to think that monsters lurk everywhere.  He is, however, a very enjoyable ride for an experienced rider.  He loves hacking out, however, and definitely wants to continue competing.

Quidditch - Coming Soon!  Quidditch is currently 14.2 hh and a 3 year old Dun Gelding.  When fully grown he should make 15-15.2 hh.  He is another Henson horse and quite extraordinarily friendly with people and will do anything to get you to give him a scratch!  Quidditch was backed at a natural horsemanship demo in June given by Steve Halfpenny of Silversand Natural Horsemanship.  See www.silversand.com.  Quidditch's ridden career, albeit initially only light work with a lightweight rider, will commence this summer.

Glimmer & Enya - may be back.  We have two mares: Glimmer a 16 hh chestnut 6 year old Hanoverian and Enya a 15 hh 14 year old Henson who have both gone off to Stud to be put in foal.  If either of them decide they don't want to be mothers again then they will return to work during the summer and be available to suitable timeshare owners.

New Horses - in the event that any of the current horses get fully booked or are not quite what you are looking for we are on the look out for new horses.  Two horses were looked at during May with equi-timeshare in mind but they were not quite what we were looking for.  As soon as new horses are available we will contact anyone on the waiting list to tell you about them.

Working Liveries - we would also consider offering a working livery deal for someone who has a suitable horse for equi-timeshare.  Please contact Clara to discuss options.
